We believe a science publication should explain its data practices with the same clarity it brings to its reporting.
Information you provide
Information submitted through newsletter and contact forms is used to provide the requested publication service or respond to an inquiry. Newsletter addresses are stored solely to send The Vault Briefing, and readers may unsubscribe at any time.
Responsible use
We do not sell personal information. Essential service providers may process limited data on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.
Measurement and analytics
We use two measurement tools to understand how the publication is read. Our hosting platform provides aggregate visit statistics, and we use Google Analytics 4 to measure page views, referral sources, and two anonymous milestones: a completed newsletter signup and a completed contact message. Google Analytics sets cookies or similar identifiers in your browser to distinguish visits.
Analytics is configured conservatively: advertising features, Google signals, and ad personalisation are switched off, IP addresses are anonymised, and no names, email addresses, or message contents are ever sent to Google Analytics. Readers who prefer not to be measured can use their browser or extension controls to block analytics cookies.
